A long time ago but in this galaxy and even on this planet, we wrote about settling the stars. We explained how faster than light travel being theoretically unfeasible yet, the human race would have to rely on generational ships, carrying a living community able to renew itself.
The way there will be a global adventure. It won’t be settlers in a covered wagon nor hippies in a camping van. Only science-fiction relies on faster than light travel with happy go-lucky roamers.
But supposing that we did have better spaceships, not requiring the crew to be frozen, and chose to go piece-meal out of the solar system, there are good reasons why it would still be an ordeal.
